Five judges were elevated to the Supreme Court after the Centre cleared the proposal made by the Collegium. The strength of judges in the top court rose to 32 with President Droupadi Murmu’s approval on Saturday. The names of the five judges were recommended by the Collegium in December last year and three more names have been sent to the Centre on January 31, 2023.

The five appointed judges are namely –
Justice Pankaj Mithal, Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court,
Justice Sanjay Karol, Chief Justice of Patna High Court,
Justice PV Sanjay Kumar, Chief Justice of Manipur High Court,
Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah, a judge at Patna High Court
Justice Manoj Misra, a judge at Allahabad High Court.
The judges are likely to take oath on Monday at 10:30 am in the Additional Building Complex of the Supreme Court, which will be administered by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud. (informations only.com)
