Delhi Metro Magenta Line: Know all about its route map, station list and impact

Covering a distance of 34.12 kilometres, the Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line stretches from Janakpuri West in South-west Delhi to Botanical Garden in Sector-38 Noida. The latest extension will take the Magenta Line from Janakpuri to RK Ashram and provide interchange to Delhi Metro Green, Blue, Pink and Red. Let us take a closer look at its significance, and how it is influencing the real estate market.

The Magenta Line or Line-8 is a part of the Delhi Metro network, which is equipped with India’s first-ever driverless train operations. It covers 34.12 kilometres with 15 underground and 10 elevated stations between Janakpuri West and Botanical Garden. The metro route facilitates interchanging at Janakpuri West on the Blue Line, at Hauz Khas on the Yellow Line, and at Kalkaji Mandir on the Violet Line.  (informations only.com)

This metro corridor directly caters to Terminal-1 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI). With the Shankar Vihar metro station, it has another distinction of being the lone metro station, where civilians have restricted access owing to its location in the Delhi Cantonment zone, a defence area.

What is more, the Magenta Line has India’s tallest escalator at the Janakpuri West metro station, which boasts 15.6 metres in height. Also, the Hauz Khas metro station on the line is the deepest at 29 metres.

Delhi Metro Magenta Line: Latest news and updates

In November 2022, DMRC finished the tunnelling work between Krishna Park Extension and Keshopur on the newest extension of the upcoming magenta line metro route between Janakpuri West and RK Ashram Marg corridor under Delhi Metro Phase 4 project.

The Delhi Metro authorities will soon unveil new features to the Magenta Line metro stations. This includes the public display systems (PDS) that will not only show the next arrival time for the train but also the occupancy percentage in each coach for the benefit of passengers. The initiative will help ensure uniform occupancy on trains and address combating. The PDS will also show the destination and arrival time before the occupancy figures for coaches as per reports.

Delhi Metro Magenta Line: Impact on property market

The Magenta metro line has augmented real estate markets considerably along the entire stretch. It has led to steady demand for property near Botanical Gardens while attracting buyers seeking better connectivity from Noida. Areas such as Challera and Sectors 43, 42, 44, 46, and 45 are already seeing sizable demand with an appreciation in home and rental values alike. The Magenta Line will reduce commuting time to a great extent between South and South West Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida, as well as Noida and Faridabad. Expect peripheral markets to realise a major boost with the extension to RK Ashram Marg in the works. (informations only.com)
