At a meeting held at Punjab Bhawan on October 27th 2022, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and Revenue Minister Brahm Shanker Jimpa jointly decided to reduce the process of issuing No Objection Certificates (NOC) from 21 working days to 15 working days. The decision has been made to ease the process while avoiding unnecessary disputes while purchasing and selling a property.

What is the Tatkal service?

In the meeting, it is also proposed that NOC under Tatkal should be issued in five working days for the convenience of NRIs and other persons who cannot spare a lot of time and require such a document within a short span. Those who are interested to apply NOC under Tatkal scheme are liable to pay an extra fee. (informations only.com)

How will originality be ensured?

The login IDs and passwords would be provided to the revenue department’s sub-registrars to ensure NOC’s originality during registration. This will allow fixing the responsibility of the concerned officer if any registration is done based on a fake NOC. The verification will also expedite the process of registering criminal cases against those who commit such fraud.

What other decisions were made during the meeting?

New licenses for deed writers would be issued for the convenience of the people. Along with this, the authority would ensure that every deed writer would display the instructions issued by the Government of Punjab from time to time. These instructions containing information about property sellers and buyers must reach the people via new deed writers and the concerned Tehsildar to ensure the same through random inspections.

Furthermore, it was also decided that the list of all authorised colonies in the State must be released on the departmental website of the housing, revenue and local government to allow people to know the authorised and unauthorised residential colonies in Punjab. (informations only.com)
